About me
My name is Jan Stoffel. I studied Energy Science and Technology at ETH Zurich and work as an engineer in Zurich.
Murmeli grew alongside that job, in the evenings and at weekends. It is a labour of love. Everything the app earns goes to my daughter.
Why Murmeli exists
A baby monitor listens in a room where nobody else is. For my own child I did not want an app that asks for an account first and then sends the sound through a server somewhere abroad.
So Murmeli is built the way I want it myself: no account, no recordings, no ads, no subscription. Sound and picture are encrypted and travel straight from one phone to the other whenever the network allows it. When it does not, a server in Switzerland passes them on. It is mine and I run it myself.
Where the money goes
Murmeli is unlocked once and costs nothing after that. Whatever is left after Apple’s and Google’s fees I put aside for my daughter. I earn my living as an engineer.
Who answers when you write
I do. There is no team and no ticket system behind info@murmeli-babyphone.ch. If something does not work, or something is missing, write to me.
